On Foot
The group was formed in 2006 for likeminded people who wish to explore the area in which they live. The South East has an abundance of beautiful countryside which is rich in wildlife, woodland and countryside which provides some of the best walking in England.
Within a very short traveling distance of London we have designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which have been described as the jewels of the English landscape; these include the Surrey Hills, High Weald and Sussex Downs which we aim to explore with our walking programme.
Walking is an easy, low-impact healthy exercise that almost everyone can enjoy. Our intention is to offer short guided walks of approx 5-8 miles in length to appeal to those of us who don’t have the time or endurance for a whole days walking but who like to get out into the fresh air and meet new people.

Runneymeade Ramblers
The Club was formed in 1983 and is a small friendly club. We have about 90 members, although the number of members on a walk varies from eight to eighteen. Most of our members live within Runnymede Borough but some live further away. You are welcome no matter what your post-code. We are affiliated to The Ramblers Association.
We walk in Surrey, Hampshire, Berks and Bucks. Most of our walks are on Sundays but once a month, from March to October we offer a mid-week walk. We walk three Sundays each month, the length of the walk depends on the season. Short walks are usually flat and easy (4-6 miles), whilst the medium walks vary from flat to some climbing (7-9 miles), the long walks being more challenging (9-12 miles).
Members meet at car parks in either Addlestone or Egham (depending on which way we are travelling) to share cars. Details are included in the Programme.
On medium and long walks we take a packed lunch, snacks on short walks, but the mid-week walk usually includes a pub lunch.

Southern Treking and Mountaineering Club
This site is intended to provide information both for current members of the Club, and for people who may be thinking about joining a mountaineering or hillwalking club.
STMC is a London-based mountaineering club, drawing its membership from London and the home counties. The Club was founded more than 25 years ago by a group of keen hillwalkers and climbers who saw a need for a London-area club that was perhaps a little less technical than the established mountaineering and climbing clubs. Ever since, it has drawn its members from a wide area around London, and has tended to attract people who are keen on hillwalking and trekking rather than pure technical rock climbers. New members have ranged from people who are already experienced hillwalkers to comparative novices.
Our main activities are weekend meets which take place every two to three weeks in areas with hillwalking and/or climbing interest. The areas most frequently visited are North Wales and the Lake District, where extensive opportunities exist for all grades of hillwalking, scrambling and climbing, but we also visit a wide range of other areas, including the Peak District for walking and gritstone climbing, plus South and Mid Wales, the Welsh Borders, the Southwest (Dartmoor, Exmoor, Dorset) and Yorkshire where the emphasis is mainly on hillwalking. We arrange week-long trips to the Scottish Highlands in February and May of each year. Although the Club does not organise trips outside the UK, groups of members often get together to organise visits to the Alps, etc.

Surrey Country Walkers
Surrey County Walkers is a local walking group. Most walks are held in the western part of Surrey, in the Woking, Guildford, Farnham and Dorking areas, particularly on the North Downs between Guildford and Dorking. In the summer, walks are held further afield, e.g. in Hampshire and Sussex.
Walks are usually 6 - 8 miles in length for morning walks and 10 - 15 miles for all day walks. Morning walks usually finish between 1230 and 1330, depending on length, with an optional pub lunch afterwards, if available. All day walks finish during the afternoon, depending on length, with either a pub or picnic lunch, as stated in the programme.
Walks are held every weekend, alternately on Saturdays and Sundays. On Bank Holidays, walks are sometimes held on the Mondays.
