EASY WALK FROM ASHRIDGE TEA ROOMS TO ALDBURY AND BACK

Distance: 1.5 miles Time: Approx 40 mins
Difficulty: Moderate. (50% downhill, 50% uphill)
Dog Friendly: Mostly tracks. Some places can be muddy especially were track is covered by trees. Greyhound pub does have dog bowl.
Check the weather
Turn right out of gate and follow public bridleway which is the 'Ashridge Estate Boundary Trail'. This path is wide and gently descends.
Within a short distance you will meet a fork junction.
Take right path to slowly descend down the hill through wooded area.
Keep to this path until you come to another fork junction - Boundary Trail sign(Green)
Keep to right path descending down the slope.
Trail changes from 'Boundary Trail' to 'Hertfordshire Way' (Green sign with white arrow ) Path to right is wide but with a steep incline. Ignore sign post for public bridle way(light blue) to left.
On reaching sign post on right DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER.

A slight incline which gets steeper as you walk down the slope through the wood. This path is uneven.
There are protruding tree trunks. Be careful when walking down this slope.
Continue down slope over the style passing ‘Bridle path sign’ (blue) on right.
Leaving wood you come onto open track which leads passed number of houses on left hand side.
Continue on this path till you reach road. Opposite is cottage named ‘Applegarth’.
Turn left onto road and follow this until you reach Greyhound pub Aldbury. Time to have refreshments
From Greyhound pub walk to left of pond until you reach road junction (Tom’s Hill Road).jpg)
Take left walking up hill past ‘Aldbury Pre School’.
Within a short distance you will see sign post on left. Take ‘Public Bridleway to Bridgewater Monument’ showing half a mile.
The track is uphill and there is sign pointing to ‘Monument tea room’.
Follow this track all the way to the tea rooms. Do not deviate at anytime.
